Austin Edwards, the deranged sociopath who traveled across the county on a hellbent drive to California to abduct a teenage girl, leading to his killing three of her family members, died at his own hand during a confrontation with sheriff’s deputies.
Edwards was previously erroneously reported to have come to his grim end as a result of gunfire from sheriff’s deputies. While it is accurate that Edwards was engaged for a time in a running gun battle with some members of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, a coroner’s report shows he himself fire the shot that ended his life.
