92-Year-Old Man Driving Golf Cart On Twentynine Palms Highway Killed In Car Collision

A 92-year-old man, who has yet to be identified, was killed on Saturday, August 15, 2026 while he was operating a golf cart on Twentynine Palms Highway.
While the man’s name is known to authorities, as is his address in Yucca Valley, that information is yet being withheld as the Sentinel goes to press on Friday.
According to the sheriff’s department at 05:47 p.m., the San Bernardino County Sherrif’s Department responded to Twentynine Palms Highway and Mohave Trail in Yucca Valley to a report of a traffic collision.
According to the department, the man was severely injured when he drove the golf cart into oncoming traffic.
The speed limit on Twentynine Palms Highway, also known as State Route 62, at that point is 45 miles per hour. Moving vehicles at that point are potentially moving at rates reaching 50 to 55 miles per hour.
The man was transported to Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree and pronounced deceased at 8:02 p.m.
