The musicians of the Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band and the Jim Milhser Family are proud to present a program entitled “Salute to Entertainment” on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in Merton E. Hill Auditorium, located on the campus of Chaffey High School at the corner of Euclid Ave. and 5th Street in Ontario. The Woodwind Celebration Ensemble will present a pre-concert recital in the auditorium lobby at 7:00 p.m. Complimentary coffee and cookies will be served in the lobby prior to the concert. The performance is free to the public.
The concert will feature songs from the world of entertainment, including many Broadway hits, including What I Did For Love, On The Street Where You Live, and The Impossible Dream. The Show Band is excited to have two guest performers returning to its stage, Bobby Collins and Emilio Pichardo. Performing for the first time with the Show Band will be newcomer Loren Martinez.
Bobby Collins has been singing and dancing on stage for more than 35 years. He has performed in many productions including roles in Singing in the Rain, Young Frankenstein, The Producers, and Merrily We Roll Along. He is the managing artistic director for the Inland Valley Repertory Theatre, and by day he is the principal of Rancho Cucamonga Middle School.
Emilio Pichardo is a member of the Seventh Variety, an international collegiate quartet and the Westminster Chorus, the current international champion chorus. He is a voice coach with the Inland Pacific Ballet and teaches voice at the Christian Arts & Theatre in Corona.
Loren Martinez has performed as a soloist as well as for various theater companies and choirs all over the U.S. She has over a decade of experience in music education and is currently a music teacher in the Alta Loma School District, and is also the choir director at Water of Life Community Church in Fontana, California.
Also featured will be Show Band musician Steve Collins on Flugelhorn, along with the musicians of the Show Band performing highlights from The Music Man and West Side Story.
Those who wish to do so can support the Show Band by visiting and feeding the Hungry Tuba located in the lobby. The concert will be broadcast on local Ontario cable Channel 3. Check your cable listings for the date and time.
The Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band was founded in 1985 by R. Jack Mercer and is now under the direction of Mr. Patrick Arnold and assistant directors David Schaafsma and David Grasmick. Band members represent at least two dozen communities throughout Southern California. Adult musicians and students are invited to participate. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings from 7 to 9:00 p.m. at the Chaffey High School Jack Mercer Band Room. The band performs monthly concerts on the campus of Chaffey High School as well as at other venues throughout the community. All performances are free to the public.
