Grace Bernal’s California Style: Stitched

One unique trend that I’ve seen all over the place are embroidered jackets, and sweaters. They make quite the statement piece with the different embroidery attachments. You see butterfly accents, dragons, roses, favorite quotes, band names stitched on, and on a simpler side just an embroidered name. The trend began over a year ago with stitched denim but the jackets and sweaters are really the it thing by this point. You can grab a denim, silk, or bomber jacket and try to embroider yourself, too. The jacket trend has history thanks to a GI stationed in Japan after World War II, who wanted a keepsake from the country. So, he decided to have his bomber jacket embroidered with colorful Indians, birds, and flowers. With that, the rest of the army followed and thus began the trend. You style-12-30-2

can definitely dress down or up in the embroidered staple. Another neat feature is an embroidered piece can act as a great conversation starter if you’re headed to a gathering, lunch, or dinner. To boot, the embroidery look is very chic on jackets. Have fun stitching around in this trend while it lasts. Enjoy your New Years!

“Things do not pass for what they are, but for what they seem. Most things are judged by their jackets.” -Baltasar Gracian
